Tiguan is the preferred choice for many customers in the segment, however, if customers wanted more space there wasn't really an alternative within the line-up. Then
Volkswagen introduced the
AllSpace and it answered the need for more space and 7 seats. Now it has been updated and I think it is the best
Tiguan on offer, let us tell you why.
The updated
Tiguan is a real head turner of note! It now features updated headlights and on this test unit, were the optional
IQ LED Matrix options which offer impeccable illumination in the dark. There are also updated
LED tail lights which also add to the visual appearance of the
Tiguan and of course updated bumpers. The illuminated radiator grille and dynamic turn signals are the main highlights from the front when the sun goes down. Seen here is the
R-Line model which features sporty bumpers, larger wheels and an overall visually appealing design.
The
Tiguan AllSpace's interior is spacious and comfortable, with ample room for up to seven passengers. The
SUV features a range of premium materials and finishes, including leather seats. Additionally, the
Tiguan AllSpace has a range of driver-assist features, including adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and rearview camera.
Furthermore, the vehicle is equipped with the
Digital Cockpit Pro (digital instrument cluster) as standard, an updated multi-function steering wheel and an infotainment system with an 8.0 inch colour screen. The 3-zone automatic climate control system is controlled from a new module with touch panels in the centre console. The
Tiguan Allspace includes new advanced assist systems.
The optional equipment package fitted to our test unit offers the enhanced Front Assist Autonomous Emergency Braking function, Lane Assist lane departure warning system, Driver Alert System and Adaptive Cruise Control.
The
Tiguan AllSpace is offered with a range of engines but we received the entry-level option, the 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol. It develops 110kW and 250Nm of torque which is actually not bad. The 6-speed DSG makes good work of ensuring that power is best used and we never felt underwhelmed. We also achieved a decent fuel consumption figure of around 7.5l/100km.
In terms of practicality the
AllSpace really impresses. With the back row folded flat you get an impressive 700 litres of boot space, that's appreciably more than the 520-to-615 litres the regular
Tiguan offers depending on the position of its rear seats. With the third row in place, you get just 230 litres of luggage space.
