Volvo launches electric EX30 Cross Country

By Reuben van Niekerk on 19 Aug 2025
The Cross Country nameplate has returned to the Volvo line up with the local debut of the new EX30 Cross Country.

This model boasts numerous features that make it better suited for those motorists who crave adventure without compromising on sustainability or style.

Built for adventure

The EX30 Cross Country features a bold new design language that incorporates a number of features that make this model well suited to off-road driving. Rugged styling and purposeful detailing builds on Volvo’s heritage and adventure-ready design.

A big part of the visual transformation is the raised ride height, which adds ground clearance of up to 190mm but also ensures a more commanding and aggressive appearance. Exclusive 19-inch five spoke alloy wheels are finished in matte graphite and complimented by matte black aero inserts.

The front shield and boot lid are finished in a darker tone, while the front fascia incorporates unique artwork inspired by Sweden’s Kebnekaise mountain range. Pronounced skid plates and wider wheel arch extensions, give the EX30 Cross Country a more muscular appearance and reinforce its off-road intent.

A variety of Volvo accessories such as roof racks and mud flaps enhance the aesthetic and capability.

A refined interior

Volvo interiors are some of the best on the market today and the EX30 continues that trend with a sophisticated, minimalist interior where form meets function. A generous level of standard equipment includes a heated steering wheel and front seats, a fixed panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control and power adjustable front seats.

Centrally mounted is a large 12.3-inch central touchscreen that integrates most vehicle controls and settings. Naturally it supports both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto along with built-in Google services such as Google Maps, Google Assistant and Google Play. A crisp, immersive audio experience is guaranteed thanks to a nine-speaker Harman Kardon premium sound system.

Two interior finishes are on offer including Pine, a calming green inspired by Scandinavia’s forests or Indigo, a deep, understated blue influenced by the northern light sky.

As expected from Volvo, the EX30 Cross Country is equipped with an extensive array of safety and driver assistance technologies, such as Adaptive Cruise Control, Post Impact Braking, Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian and Cyclist Detection and many more. Passive safety measures include driver and dual stage passenger airbags, side curtain airbags, an inner-side airbag for the driver seat and Isofix child seat attachments, all included as standard.

The Volvo EX30 Cross Country has been electrified and is now powered by Volvo’s Twin Motor Performance electric drivetrain that offers 315kW and 543Nm allowing for a 0-100km/h sprint of 3.7 seconds.
Key to this rapid acceleration is an all-wheel drive system that offers exceptional grip across all conditions.

Powering the two motors is a 69kWh battery pack that delivers an electric range of as much as 427km.

Warranty and pricing

Pricing includes a three-year/60 000km maintenance plan, a five-year/100 000km warranty, an eight-year battery warranty and five-years unlimited roadside assistance. Buyers also get two years free public charging, a GridCars wall box with installation and 10GB of Vodacom data per month for three years.
