The
Toyota Hilux has long been a popular choice for
South African drivers, and the 2022 model is no exception. With a range of features and improvements, the
Hilux offers a reliable and practical choice for those looking for a versatile vehicle that can handle
South Africa's challenging terrain.
One of the key features of the 2022
Toyota Hilux is its improved performance. With a choice of two engines, drivers can choose between a 2.4-litre diesel engine and a 2.8-litre diesel. That latter produces around 150kW and 500Nm of torque.
Key to success in the Light Commercial Vehicle (LCV) sector is being responsive to customer needs and designing a product that caters to a wide range of target customers. With this philosophy in mind,
Toyota South Africa has applied some key changes to the
Hilux product line-up, to cater to ever-evolving customer demands.
Toyota has thus taken the decision to enhance its offerings on a few of its
Hilux models. The most notable change is brought to Xtra Cab where the
Legend grade now includes
Toyota Safety Sense (TSS) 2.0. This active safety system brings with it a Pre-Collision System (PCS), high-speed-range Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) and Lane Departure Alert (LDA).
TSS operation can be adjusted via dedicated steering switches or via the Multi-Information Display (MID). As part of the spec upgrade, the exterior mirrors now also incorporate a welcome light feature (as with Double-cab
Legend models).
As part of a second wave of
Legend grade alignment, all double-cab
Legend models now boast the same specification level (including 4x2 variants which previously omitted the JBL audio). As such, the Legend grade offers:
- Power-adjustable driver seat
- Leather interior
- Toyota Safety Sense (Pre-crash system, Lane Keeping Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control)
- JBL premium 9-speaker audio system
- Dual-zone climate control
- Smart Entry System
Overall, the latest
Toyota Hilux offers a range of improvements and features that make it a compelling choice for South African drivers. With its impressive performance, advanced safety features, off-road capability, and practicality, the
Hilux is a versatile and reliable vehicle that is well-suited for
South Africa's challenging terrain.
