Opel have unveiled a special Opel Corsa Irmscher Edition. Limited to just 40 units, this model reinvigorates a performance nameplate that was synonymous with fast Opels in the 90s while celebrating Opel’s racing heritage, dynamic performance and bold design.
Irmscher is a German tuning company which were responsible for running many of the Opel factory motorsport teams in European and German motorsport series in the 90s. The brand is well known by Opel enthusiasts as a supplier of go fast parts for Opels.
The Opel Corsa Irmscher was first showcased at last year’s Festival of Motoring and the publics overwhelming response and excitement around that prototype motivated Stellantis to build 40 of these special edition derivatives locally and make them available to the South African motoring public.
The Opel Corsa Irmscher has been crafted for those who demand more from their cars while maintaining Opel’s commitment to delivering world-class engineering and unparalleled driving experiences.
The design of the Opel Corsa Irmscher draws heavily from Opel’s motorsport legacy and features carefully selected enhancements that elevate both its aesthetics and driving dynamics.
Additions include a front spoiler lip, side skirts, rear roof spoiler, rear diffuser, rear lower spoiler and Irmscher badging. The Opel Corsa Irmscher is fitted with unique 18-inch alloy wheels fitted with 225/40R18 tyres. A 30mm lower suspension adds a sporty stance while contributing to enhanced handling.
The Opel Corsa Irmscher will be available in three colours, each with a contrasting black roof.
The interior features the same specification as the GS Line, along with the addition of Irmscher boot and floor mats.
True motorsport pedigree
The Opel Corsa Irmscher was built to celebrate the motorsport pedigree of both Opel and Irmscher and the latest iteration has already achieved that locally. The first Opel Corsa Irmscher successfully competed in the 2025 Simola Hillclimb, showing its worth at what is South Africa’s premier motorsport event.
